SAINT JOSEPH, MICHIGAN – JUNE 5, 2024 – Honor Credit Union has partnered with United Federal Credit Union to make a generous donation of $200,000 to the Benton Harbor – St. Joseph YMCA. Each credit union donated $100,000 towards this initiative.

This significant contribution aims to support the YMCA’s efforts in revitalizing and expanding their existing facilities, programs, and memberships. These enhancements will provide numerous benefits to our local communities and families, fostering a more vibrant and inclusive environment for all.

Honor’s donation will support monthly community soup nights at the Benton Harbor-St. Joseph, Niles-Buchanan, and O-Brien Center YMCA locations.

“Honor has been a long-time supporter of our local YMCAs. We understand the interconnectedness of financial and physical health, and how, together, they foster well-being in the communities we both serve. We’re grateful for their work and happy to partner with UFCU to maximize the impact of our gift,” said Honor Credit Union CEO, Scott McFarland.

United’s donation will help fund the new Great Start Readiness Program classroom at the YMCA. GSRP is Michigan’s free Pre-K program for eligible four-year-olds.

“When credit unions step up to support important community initiatives like this one, it truly shows what makes our industry special,” said Terry O’Rourke, President/CEO of United. “It is a welcome opportunity to support the YMCA’s mission alongside our friends at Honor Credit Union. We are committed to not only enhancing the financial lives of our Members, but supporting the organizations that matter most to them and to the future generations of where we work and live.”
