Honor Credit Union Foundation Awards $8,000 To Ishpeming School Pack Programs
Authored By: Honor Credit Union on 12/22/2016

NEGAUNEE, MICHIGAN – December 21, 2016 – The Honor Credit Union Foundation, Honor Credit Union’s community fund, is excited to announce two awards recently granted to the Birchview Schools in Ishpeming for the Hematite Pack Program and the NICE Community Schools Patriot Pack Program. Both schools received a grant from the Honor Credit Union Foundation in the amounts of $4,000 each to use to fund their program.

The Pack Program was established over a year ago in efforts to help students that may not get proper nutritional food over the weekends. Each pack is filled with a can of soup, cereal, granola bar, fruits, vegetables, and other nutritional snacks to help supply them with food through the weekend. Ishpeming Schools currently has about 76 students that are supplied with these packs each week and NICE Community Schools supplies about 79 packs each week.

Diana Sundberg of Gauthier Insurance is the coordinator for the Birchview Schools program and commented, “We are absolutely thrilled and cannot thank Honor Credit Union Foundation enough for their generosity toward our program. This should help us fund the program for the rest of the year for these kids!” Parents or donors can contact the Ishpeming Public Schools or the NICE Community Schools for more information on this program for donations, and volunteering.

The Honor Credit Union Foundation has awarded over $12,000 this year to the Upper Peninsula communities and schools. The Honor Foundation exists to partner with communities. In addition to corporate donations and sponsorships for many local organizations, Honor Credit Union team members contribute countless hours of service to organizations within its communities every year. Honor Foundation is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that is primarily funded by Honor Credit Union employees, in addition to a portion of Honor debit card interchange income.

Honor Credit Union is a $700 million dollar credit union, providing a broad range of affordable financial services to more than 60,000 members across the State of Michigan. To find out more, call 800.442.2800, or visit www.honorcu.com.
