Cell Phones for Soldiers
Honor Credit Union is proud to partner with nonprofit Cell Phones for Soldiers Inc. to help troops call home by donating gently used cell phones. Funds raised from the recycling of the donated cell phones are used to purchase pre-paid international calling cards. Community members can donate cell phones to the Honor branches in Benton Harbor, Berrien Springs, Coloma, Coldwater, Dowagiac, Kalamazoo, Paw Paw, Plainwell, Niles, South Haven, Stevensville and St. Joseph.
Cell Phones for Soldiers Inc. was founded in 2004 by teenagers Robbie and Brittany Bergquist with the goal of providing free talk time to servicemen and women stationed around the world. To assist the as many as 290,000 troops serving in the U.S. military overseas around the world, Honor is encouraging community members to donate their gently used cell phones to this deserving mission. The program distributes an average 12,000 calling cards each week to bases around the world! Cell Phones for Soldiers Inc. is another way that Honor Credit Union, our communities, and our members can show our appreciation for the men and women that make up the United States military.
